Panel Discussion on Robotics
A panel discussion with three students involved in robotics took place on February 14, 2018. The three students who appear in the photograph and are, from left to right, Farnaz Baksh (Second year, Computer Science Major), Arrianna Mahase (Second year, Computer Science Major) and Stephanie Simon (Second year, Computer Science Major). The students had recently returned from a visit to Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) where there were able to visit robotics teams and startup incubators. The trip afforded them the opportunity to interact with students and faculty who are active in robotics and to learn from the experience of others.
The panel discussion focused on the experience of the team on the visit to Georgia Institute of Technology. It also explored the ideas of the members on robotics, their involvement in the university community and their backgrounds including where they grew up and the secondary schools they attended.
At the University of Guyana, Farnaz Baksh started a robotics club. The other members of the panel are involved in the club and its ongoing activities. They are also all involved in the STEM Guyana programme.
